Reads, appends, updates and deletes rows, and manages sheets, in Google Sheets.
What it does
It works on two things: whole spreadsheet documents and the sheets inside them. Most templates use it as a lightweight database: append a row per lead or invoice, look rows up, or update one by a matching column. It connects with a Google OAuth2 credential or a service account.
It is the most used app node in the library, and Gmail is one of its strongest partners: more than a third of Sheets templates also send or read email.
How often public templates use it
4,846 of the 13,574 public templates on n8n.io (35.7%) contain this node, in the snapshot we took on 2026-10-20. The table splits that by the year each template was published. 2026 runs to October 20.

Merged dates from GitHub. A fix only helps once your n8n instance runs a release that includes it, so check your version.
Known problems
- Appending an array. A field holding an array won't append as rows. Split it first with Split Out, or reshape it with Code. Source: n8n docs
- Renamed columns. If you rename sheet columns after setting the node up, re-select the column mapping mode so it re-reads the headers. Source: n8n docs
- Zero read as empty. Get Rows returned an empty string for cells holding 0 until a July 2025 fix. Source: n8n PR #17642
- Quota errors on append. A 2026 fix cut duplicate API calls during append that could exhaust Google's quota. Source: n8n PR #29444
Forum trouble signal: not measured. The n8n community forum's terms forbid automated access, so we don't count forum threads.
