Plugs a Google Gemini model into an n8n agent or chain.
What it does
A sub-node like the OpenAI Chat Model, using a Google AI (Gemini API) credential. It is separate from the standalone Google Gemini node, which calls the API as a single step and also handles images, audio and files.
Compared with the OpenAI Chat Model, it sits in a Basic LLM Chain far more often (about a third of its templates, against about a fifth), usually with a Structured Output Parser for extraction and classification. Two thirds of its templates still attach it to an agent.

1,285 of the 13,574 public templates on n8n.io (9.5%) contain this node, in the snapshot we took on 2026-10-20. The table splits that by the year each template was published. 2026 runs to October 20.

Merged dates from GitHub. A fix only helps once your n8n instance runs a release that includes it, so check your version.
Known problems
- No proxy support. Google's SDK used by the node ignores proxy settings; the workaround is a reverse proxy set as the credential's host. Source: n8n docs
- Custom base URL. A base URL setting for the Gemini API arrived in January 2025; older versions can't point elsewhere. Source: n8n PR #12643
- Image models in the list. Imagen image models were hidden from the model dropdown in May 2026, since a chat node can't use them. Source: n8n PR #31150
